Today was our first experience at Blackbird Farm. We were greeted and treated like family. The farm’s animals were being raised in a humane environment. They are allowed to roam about their environment just as if they were in the wilderness. I would highly recommend anyone who has thought twice about purchasing meat at the local supermarket to consider stopping at this family owned/operated farm. My girlfriend has not consumed any meat after reading the book “Skinny Bi**H”. After being instructed on how the farm operates, we purchased ground beef and made the most amazing burgers. We live in Smithfield and feel great that we can support a local farm that can not only verbally back up there product, but can show you where it comes from. We both can now eat meat, knowing that the product did not come from a mistreated animal.

Thanks very much for coming by the farm and for the kind comments. We do love and care for the animals and I’m glad you and your girlfriend got to see it. Enjoy!

Hello I have a question. I drive past your farm several times a week ( I live very close) and sometimes I see 2-4 cows outside grazing, sometimes not. Do you raise your cows from calfs or purchase them when they are older?

The majority of our herd is born here. On occasion we do get breeding stock from farms around the country that we know well and have specific genetic information that we approve of for our herd.
